The department of Biotechnology has conducted a guest lecture on 11th October 2019for 1st year students of biotechnology department, SRM IST, Ramapuram, Chennai by Dr. Florida Tilton, Chairperson and Managing Director of Biozone Research PVT LTD, Chennai. The topic of guest lecture was“Recent Trends in Biotechnology”. The Head of the Department Dr. T. Sekar gave a brief introduction about the guest Dr. Florida Tilton. The speaker has initiated the talk with an aim to acknowledge the students about the various fields of life sciences and history of Biotechnology. Additionally, the speaker addressed functional trends of biotechnological techniques in food and pharma industries. Later the talk went on by mentioning the scope of the biotechnology and future prospectus. Dr. Florida also summarized the latest developments in the fields of healthcare, agriculture, bioresource and utilization, food and nutrition.The lecture was concluded with the queries section. Later, the session was ended with a vote of thanks delivered by the student of biotechnology Mr. G. Vijay Ragavan.
